TOSAQ is delighted to formally welcome Dr Anthony Young as our Patron for 2026, following his appointment confirmed by members at the AGM. Anthony is a long-time TOSAQ member and a passionate advocate for inspiring the next generation to discover the joy, colour, and power of organ music, particularly through authentic musical experiences with live instruments and community singing.
Anthony currently holds the role of Coordinator of Culture and Solidarity at St Lawrence’s College and previously held the role of Head of Classroom Music at the College. He is widely respected across Queensland and nationally for his leadership in music education, choral conducting, and curriculum expertise. Anthony is a recipient of the Queensland College of Teachers Excellence in Teaching Award and serves the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority as a Lead Endorser for Year 11 and Year 12 Senior Music, as well as a Chief Confirmer for the Year 12 subject Music Extension. His teaching and research are deeply grounded in boys’ musical participation and voice development, with a doctorate examining participation in a Kodály-based program, and ongoing engagement with teacher education through tertiary lecturing and tutoring roles.
Many members will also recognise Anthony for annually bringing a group of St Laurence’s students to a TOSAQ Monday Play Night, ensuring young musicians experience the Christie Cinema Pipe Organ up close, both musically and socially. As Patron, Anthony will work with the committee to help strengthen this bridge between the organ community and today’s youth, celebrating music making that is welcoming, participatory, and deeply human.

We warmly thank Anthony for accepting the Patron role, and we look forward to sharing this year with him as TOSAQ continues to grow its community, its music, and its future. In the near future, we will announce formal opportunities for members to meet Anthony and provide updates on our collective efforts.
